Just five days after the five German Karmarider cyclists left, another five-member team of philanthropists who arrived here on a motor bike expedition to promote peace and brotherhood has been flagged off for their onward journey from Hotel Imphal by Tourism Minister TN Haokip today.
Under the banner of Mission Asia, the five philanthropists, namely Dipak Borah, Nabojit Borah, Bidan Boraj, Pankaj Bordoloi and Dibyajyoti Saikia, all from Assam, have been undertaking the expedition since November 17 last.
They started their journey from Tejpur Assam and after covering a distance of 3500 kms through Upper Assam and Nagaland, the Mission Asia team touched the soil of Manipur.
Interacting with mediapersons, the Mission Asia team said they are young peace loving fellows who have set out to spread the message of peace and brotherhood all over Asian continent and germinate the idea of peace in the hearts of every people.
'We are of the same blood and irrespective of the countries we reside in, the languages spoken and the religions professed, our problems are same.
So there is the need to understand each other and join hands in solving our common problems', they said.
They further informed that they have been undertaking the mission on their own expenses and with the support of the public.
At the flag off ceremony, Minister TN Haokip complimented the Mission Asia team and said that North East region is one big family.
The Minister also assured some cash and material assistance to the young expeditors toward successful completion of their mission.
From Imphal, the Mission Asian team would be going to Jiribam, Silchar, Itanagar, Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram before proceeding to Delhi from where they plan to proceed to Pakistan.
