Arms deal foiled, AK rifles seized

Assam Rifles foiled a major arms deal in Mizoram along Indo-Myanmar border and recovered five AK- 56 rifles .
A statement issued by PIB (Defence Wing) of Mizoram said that on receipt of information of an arms deal with militant groups of India and Myanmar in the general area of Farkwan through the porous Indo-Myanmar border, a team of 10 Assam Rifles under Capt Vaibhav Joshi laid ambush more than four times but the arms dealers did not turn up .
Again getting information through own source on July 1, an ambush was laid along Tyao river which is a border between the two countries, it added .
In the early hours of July 1, two insurgents from Myanmar were seen crossing Tyao river towards India and when challenged, they threw their bags in the river and fled.
Detailed search of the site led to recovery of a bag with five AK 56 Rifles.
