Agents-beneficiaries face off over inadequate rice distribution

A brief scuffle broke out between rationing agents and beneficiaries over inadequate distribution of NFSA rice in Khangabok Part-II GP of Khangabok AC.
In this regard, a joint meeting was held at the residence of Khangabok Part-II GP pradhan Saikhom Opendro which was attended by agents of Polling Stations - 35/5, 6, 12, 19 and 20 and the club members on Monday.
According to the agents, Polling Station 35/5 received only 48 quintals of rice out of its allocated quantity of 60.3; for 35/6, 44 quintals out of 60.4; for 35/12, 55.5 quintals out of 69.65; for 35/19, 33 quintals out of 43.35 and for 35/20, 29 quintals of 36.75 quintals from the government, and as such, they are unable to distribute same quantity of rice to the public.
In this regard, Pradhan Saikhom Opendro said that instead of providing 35/35 kgs to AAY beneficiaries, the agents are distributing only 25 kg each.
Upon enquiry, the nominee also confirmed that only 25 kg had been allocated.
Urging authority concerned to look into the matter and ensure the people especially those living below poverty line receive their entitled benefits, the pradhan appealed to those concerned to ensure the rationing agents properly weigh the rice and distribute the same
to the people.
