1 more succumbs to COVID-19, random Covid testing conducted in Kpi town

A woman from Irang Part-I in Kangpokpi district succumbed to the dreaded COVID-19 this morning at CCC Leikop, taking the death toll in the district to 28 .
The latest victim, Dhan Maya (74) was admitted at COVID Care Centre Leikop on May 27 after being tested COVID-19 positive and expired today at around 7:58am.According to her death report, the cause of death was reported to be Cardiopulmonary arrest owing to Sar COV-2 (COVID-19) Pneumonia.
The victim was brought to District Hospital Kangpokpi after developing shortness of breath on May 27 and was found COVID-19 positive.
She was then referred to CCC Leikop the same day and succumbed to the virus after being treated for four days at the COVID Care Centre Leikop.
She was later cremated by her family following strict COVID-19 protocol.
Meanwhile, with five new COVID-19 positive cases along with five cured and discharged in the last 24 hours, the total number of active cases in the district stands at 85.In view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the district, Kangpokpi local bodies under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee have declared 'Lockdown 3' in Kangpokpi District Headquarters following the expiration of Lockdown 2 on May 30 .
During Lockdown 3, all shops within Kangpokpi town shall continue to remain closed as usual, movement of passenger auto-rickshaws are restricted while wearing of face masks is made mandatory in public places.
However, Government offioes, banking services, essential and emergency services apart from individual emergency or unforeseen situations such as medical emergency, funeral services, etc are exempted from the purview of Lockdown 3.Besides, as a part of its preventive measures, the COVID Task Force Kangpokpi in collaboration with District Hospital Kangpokpi authority and Kangpokpi Police conducted random Covid testing for the people found violating COVID appropriate behaviours in public places.
A team of Kangpokpi Police led by its Officer-in- Charge, Inspector Henminthang Kipgen along with the volunteers of COVID Task Force Kangpokpi detained the people found violating COVID-19 SOPs in public places and along the National Highway.
The violators were then evacuated to Nute Kailhang, where the mobile testing team of District Hospital Kangpokpi tested them for COVID-19.Around 110 individuals were tested and one individual from Gopibung, a passenger vehicle driver who came to Kangpokpi town for ferrying essential commodities was tested COVID-19 positive.
The Medical team assisted by Kangpokpi police evacuated the positive patient to his residence at Gopibung for Home Isolation while the COVID Task Force Parsain and Kangpokpi Police sealed the residence.
Speaking to media persons, COVID Task Force Kangpokpi chairman, Haolet Khongsai said that random mass testing would continue in the town area in collaboration with the Medical Department and Kangpokpi police.
He also extended his appreciation to the mobile testing team of District Hospital Kangpokpi led by Dr Paotinlal Haokip, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kangpokpi and Kangpokpi police led by Inspector Henminthang Kipgen for their commitment and dedication towards the safety of the people.
