Imphal, May 17 2021:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Mani pur (DESAM) has pointed out that Kakching Khunou Umathel Primary Health Centre is in dire condition and it has not been able to function properly.
In a release, DESAM Kakching District Council noted that the people of the state particularly villagers have been drastically affected by the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Taking this into consideration, the Council conducted an inspection visit to hospitals, PHCs and CHCs located in different parts of Kakching district.
During the visit, it was found out that Kakching Khunou Umathel PHC could not function properly amidst the crucial Covid-19 pandemic, it informed.
Upon investigating, it came to light that the reason for not being able to functioning properly is lack of doctors in the health centre.
Out of the six doctors posted in the health centre (2-Ayush, 4- allopathic doctors), two allopathic doctors have taken study and maternity leave, the release stated, while adding that the two remaining allopathic doctors have been facing a lot of inconveniences in treating all the patients.
Thus, people of Kakching Khunou and its nearby areas are facing a lot of inconveniences in getting treatment, it lamented.
DESAM further urged the department concerned and district CMO to look into the matter immediately so that the people could get proper treatment.
