Bpr DC bans sale/use of single use plastic items

In sync with the state government's order banning sale and use of single use plastic products under the Manipur Plastic Policy, 2022, Bishnupur district deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram has imposed strict restrictions on use of the said items with immediate effect.
In a notification, the DC informed that all categories of use and throwaway plastics shall be banned while the ban on carry bags made of plastic shall less than 120 microns in thickness will come into effect from December 31, 2022.Non-woven plastic carry bags shall also not be less than 60g per square metre (GSM) and import of plastic carry bags from Myanmar into Bishnupur district shall be banned with immediate effect, he explained.
Informing that the manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of single-use plastic (SUP), polystyrene and expanded polystyrene commodities are also under the banned items, the DC advised the public to abide with the order in all matters of catering and refreshment services in social functions and gatherings.
While urging officials of all government/private offices and institutions to be responsible and comply with the order in all official functions including school and colleges, he cautioned that defaulters shall be prosecuted and penalty imposed as permissible under the law.
