Session Judge, Imphal West, has directed the OC of Singjamei PS to appear before the Court tomorrow in connection with the anticipatory bail filed by the Principal and Administrator of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School on July 20, regarding the death of Ningthoujam Babysana inside the school boarding.
The direction was given following the hearing of the anticipatory bail filed by Pheiroijam Landhoni (Principal) and Pheiroijam Romita Devi (Administrator) before the Court today.
During the hearing, the Additional PP submitted that on July 23, the Court received a message from Singjamei police praying for some time for filing bail objection before the Court and as such the filing of the objection as well as hearing was filed today.
The message submitted by the OC of Singjamei PS also stated that the case has been converted into an FIR and handed over to the newly formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) thus asking that the bail objection report be collected from the new Investigating Officer (IO) of the said SIT.
As such, the Court ruled that the Singjamei OC has to explain the matter himself and directed him to collect the anticipatory bail objection report of the case from the new IO himself and appear before the Court before July 30.The Court also ordered the prosecution to take up necessary steps to ensure the same and extended the interim bail of Pheiroijam Landhoni and Pheiroijam Romita till tomorrow.
It may be mentioned that anticipatory bail applications were filed before the Court on July 20 by Principal Pheiroijam Landhoni Devi, Administrator Pheiroijam Romita Devi, head warden Kamei Illen and warden Nongmaithem Jinnty through their respective counsels.
The same day, the Court had rejected the application of the head warden Kamei Illen and warden Nongmaithem Jinnty but granted interim bail to the Principal and the Administrator till July 23 due to pending report from the investigating agency.
Kamei Illen and Nongmaithem Jinnty were arrested on July 23 after registering a regular FIR and after keeping them in police remand for two days, they were produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, on July 25 and remanded to judicial custody till August 8 .
