Manipur expo to feature business submit

The first Manipur Industrial Expo scheduled to begin from April 4 at Lamboikhongnangkhong would feature a North East-ASEAN Business Summit.
The event which is the first industrial expo for the State would be jointly organised by Commerce and Industries Department, Ministry of DoNER, Indian Chamber of Commerce and International Chamber for Service Industry.
Commerce and Industries Minister K Govindas convened an official meeting and discussed about the summit and its preparations today, informed an official source.
Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, high ranking officials of Commerce and Industries, Police, Power, Forest Departments and Imphal West DC participated in the meeting.
Member countries of ASEAN namely Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Brunei would take part in the North East-ASEAN business summit which would be held at City Convention Centre.
The North East region's Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 would be presented during the summit.
After reviewing security arrangements and other preparations during the meeting, a team led by Minister Govindas made a spot assessment of the main venue at Lamboikhongnangkhong.
Each day of the seven day event has been designated different names such as Textiles Day, Handicraft Day, Entrepreneur Day, Food Processing Day, MSME Day and Sericulture Day.
The expo would also feature buyers-sellers meet and a workshop on Indo-Myanmar border trade.
During the expo, a foundation stone would be laid for construction of an international air cargo terminal within the complex of Imphal International Airport, said the source.
Meanwhile, the State Government has been preparing a number of MoUs which shall be signed with foreign companies during the industrial expo for investment in Manipur.
Another meeting with officials of relevant ministries would be held at New Delhi on March 22 with DoNER Secretary Naveen Verma in the chair to review the preparations for the international business summit, added the source.
