Imphal, June 03 2014:
Andro Assembly Constituency MLA Th shyamkumar expressing strong resentment against the State Government's alleged negligence of health care infrastructure in his Assembly segment drew the attention of the Health and Family welfare Minister Phung- zathang Tonsing to do the needful at the earliest possible.
Speaking to newspersons after an inspection visit to Moirangpurel High School and Moirangpurel Primary Health Sub-Centre (PHSC) in Andro AC under Imphal East district today, MLA Shyamkumar said the same PHSC was inaugurated on May 14, 1986 by current Health and family Welfare Minister Phungzathang when he was holding the same portfolio.
For about two years since its inauguration the PHSC used to serve the people as the health centre had efficient doctors and other support staff, he recounted.

The MLA, however, regretted that prolonged negligence by successive Governments not only resulted in the health centre's building laying in ruins but left to the mercy of natural calamities including wind/hail storms the same is in urgent need for Government attention and necessary reconstruction initiative.
As Phungzathang holds the same portfolio the Minister's commitment towards ensuring well-being of people of Andro AC and surrounding areas would be heartily welcomed, said the Trinamool Congress legislator highlighting that pregnant women and children suffer the most due to absence of a health centre in the area.
Compared to the PHSC, the Moirangpurel High School was found to be in better shape with the MLA stating that he endeavoured to construct six additional classrooms taking into account that the school is one of the few Government educational institutions for students of Andro AC, nearby places in Thoubal district and adjacent villages under Ukhrul district.
Hailing the school authorities for producing eight first divisioners and three students who passed in second division in the 2014 Matriculation examination, the MLA urging the teaching staff members for continuous support to the students also affirmed his personal initiative to ensure that Moirangpurel High School students fare outstandingly by the 2017 HSLC examination.
Shyamkumar also pledged to extend all possible assistance in the infrastructure development of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Andro Machengpat.
As the Vidyalaya's fencing and other construction works are currently underway about 35 students each from class VI to IX are continuing their study in Moirangpurel HS, he said.
