CCpur, June 01 2021:
Churachandpur has seen one of the pandemic's darkest days this week as at least seven deaths have been recorded in the past three days, the highest surge ever in the district.
The IDSP report on Sunday reported four deaths.
Yesterday it was one.
Today, the report said there are two deaths, taking the total deaths reported by the IDSP in the past three days to 7 .
There are however indications that cases could actually be more than it was reported as people who have repeatedly tested negative but had shown infections in CT Scan are believed to have been omitted in the list.
If these cases were to be taken into account, the death cases for the past three days could hover at about 10 cases.
Meanwhile the District Administration Churachandpur today issued a notice effectively restricting marriages with the prior permission of the District Administration.
It also required Churches, CSOs or Youth Clubs responsible for conducting last rites to give prior information to the SDMs or the District Administration to ensure SOPs are strictly observed at the place of funeral services.
'No night condolence programme shall be conducted and as far as practicable, the traditional method of manual grave digging by youths shall be dispensed and the use of mechanical engine/tools employed,' said the notice.
The newly-revised guidelines, according to the notice, are meant to avoid super spreader events and mitigate the further spreading of Covid-19 virus in the district despite the existence of detailed guidelines as it has been often reported that such gathering takes place in violation of the existing guidelines.
Churachandpur, it may be noted, saw a record surge in new cases in May with 1526 new cases reported by the IDSP.
27 of them turned out to be fatal.
Another alarming trend witnessed in the district is the number of infections detected in children of late.
About one fourth of the new cases - 64 out of 263 - reported in the past three days are children below 18 years.
