Imphal, February 24 2017:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has categorically stated that there must be some level of uniformity regarding administration of different communities settled within a State or country or an administrative unit.
Speaking at a flag hoisting cum blessing ceremony of Congress candidate in Phungyar AC Victor Keishing at the latter's Mantripukhri residence today, Ibobi stated that India and Manipur will continue to exist as long as Congress party remains strong.
If there is no uniformity and all the communities are not treated equally, there will be grievances and rancours.
It needs support of all communities to resolve all the outstanding communities plaguing the State.
The same applies to all militant groups irrespective of whether they are Naga UG groups, Kuki UG groups or those active in the valley, Ibobi stated.
If one commits a mistake, he/she should have the courage to admit it.
If the Government commits a mistake, it should confess it.
If they cannot admit their mistakes, people will certainly call them cowards.
One does not know how realistic it is but the militant groups of the valley have been demanding Manipur pre-merger status on the ground that Manipur was allegedly merged into the Indian Union forcibly, said the Chief Minister.
India was formed by unifying more than 500 kingdoms.
If all these erstwhile kingdoms demand pre-merger status, India will cease to exist.
"As such, one needs to give up the demand for pre-merger status.
We are all citizens of independent India", Ibobi asserted.
He claimed that Congress occupies a key position in the politics of India because of its secular character.
Only by strengthening Congress party, one can ensure the future of India as well as Manipur.
Every citizen is entitled to the right to vote through secret ballot and no citizen should be afraid of any element while exercising their right to vote, Ibobi exhorted.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam remarked that both BJP and NPF are divided parties.
He asserted that a divided house like BJP will only bring chaos and anarchy in Manipur if they are elected to power.
