Office complex of the Sericulture Project being constructed at Sangaipat with financial assistance from the Japan Bank of International Coo-peration (JBIC) is targeted for completion by March this year.
This was stated by Chief Minister O Ibobi during his inspection tour of the construction activities being taken up at Sangaipat.
Construction activities of the office complex was taken up on May 18, 2006 in an area covering 23.5 acres under the aegis of MANIDCO.
During his visit today, the Chief Minister inspected administrative block building, cocoon marketing house, rearing house and testing and laboratory buiding being constructed in the first phase of the Seri-culture Project at the total estimated cost of Rs 134 crores.
Satisfied with the progress of the ongoing construction activities, Ibobi stated that the office complex is targeted for completion by March this year, before the commencement of the next fiscal year.
To a query, the Chief Minister disclosed that the fund required for office complex construction is being provided to the work agencies through the Union Ministry of Textiles according to work progress.
Relevant officials will be arriving at Imphal before February 27 to assess the progress of the ongoing construction activities, he informed.
After Sangaipat, the Chief Minister moved to Khwairamband Bazar and made an inspection of the market sheds being constructed.
There, the Chief Minister was visibly peeved on observing lack of work progress in constructing Laxmi market.
The NBCC officials maintained that construction work is being impeded by the shortage of manpower and also because of its new design.
Stating that it would take some more time to construction the central portion of the market complex, the NBCC officials confided that it would not be able to meet target of completing the market complex by December.
At this, the Chief Minister instructed the relevant officials to provide necessary strength of man power.
At his next stop, Ibobi inspected the development work of the Maharani bridge being taken up under the PWD.
During his inspection tour today, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Sericulture Minister L Jayantakumar, PWD Minister K Ranjit, PDA Chairman Dr N Loken and Yaiskul A/C MLA E Kunjeshore and high ranking officials of different Departments.
