Imphal, February 23:
Functioning of the State Secretariat remained paralysed for the last six consecutive days on account of the the cease work strike of its employees.
Even if the Principal Secretaries, Commissioners and other Secretaries concerned are trying their level best in restoring normal work attending to their duties judiciously, processing of the official files has affected seriously.
In the meantime, with the Government deciding to sanction dies-non in respect of the employees who remained absent from performing their official duty, Principal Secretary (GAD) PC Lawmkunga yesterday issued a reminder of the earlier office memorandum directed all the Principal Secretaries, Commissioners and Secretaries to submit the attendance of the officers/staff under their respective control to the GAD.
In an earlier office memorandum, the Principal Secretary (GAD) had made it cleared that those striking employees coming to the office and sitting or loitering in the office premises should not be allowed entry but those who declare that they are not on strike would be allowed entry after entering their names in the registered to be maintained by the Receptionist at the gate.
Consequently, the Principal Secretaries, Commissioners and Secretaries submitted the attendance report of their respective staff.
However, according to the report, with exception to a few employees who are due to be retired from services, no employee in other departments attended to their duties.
On the other hand, a meeting of the Manipur Secretariat Service Association (MSSA), under whose banner the cease work strike is being launched by the employees since February 18, has today decided to intensify the ongoing agitation.
As the striking employees have been banned from entering the Secretariat complex, the meeting further resolved that the Association should not be held responsible for any possible damages and missing of goods inside the Secretariat.
