The Manipur State Congress Party president, Lok Sabha MP, Th Chaoba Singh, said his party is prepared to face the elections whenever the people tell them to do so.
He said his party has no specific stand on whether the election should be held early or delayed.
"We leave it all upto the people," Chaoba said.
On being question of the party's stand on the call by the UCM that the state should consider the year ending June 18 as a mourning period, and that election should not be held during it, he refused a straight answer.
On whether the UCM's voice should be considered as the voice of the people, as much as they are the people so are we, he said.
Chaoba further said there is no political party called MSCP(N) in Manipur.
He said the only MSCP is the one he is the president of.
He said this is as per the ruling of the Election Commission of India.
Chaoba also exuded confidence that the MSCP will return the majority MLAs in the 8th Manipur State Legislative Assembly.
He said in all 15 ex-MLAs is likely to contest on the party ticket in the next elections.
