Imphal, May 21:
Demanding that the second paper examination of the annual BEd (Bachelor of Education) should not be re-conducted, candidates of the examination raised an uproar in front of the Manipur University Administrative Block today.
The candidates' agitation was staged after Manipur University issued a notification saying that the BEd second paper examination which was already held on May 2 will be re-conducted on May 26.After completing their annual BEd exam this afternoon, the candidates converged in front of A-Block and raised an uproar demanding that the second paper examination should not be re-conducted.
Following the uproar, some representatives of the candidates held a meeting with the MU Vice-Chancellor.
During the meeting, the VC reportedly assured that a new notification will be issued by tomorrow.
Nevertheless, the candidates maintained that they would not give the May 26 exam even if the MU authority decides to go ahead with its plan to conduct the exam on the same day.
One candidate observed that the notification about re-conducting the second paper examination has caused severe inconvenience to the candidates as many of them are working in different Departments.
Some of the candidates are coming from outside the State specifically for the BEd exam.
Many of them have finalised their preparations to leave for their work places outside the State after the exam, he said.
As such, the notification to re-conduct the second paper exam has been causing lots of problems to the candidates, he added.
