Acting on a writ petition filed by general secretary of Sagolband Young Pioneers Organisation Oinam Ningthemani in connection with non-distribution of SK oil to card holders according to their entitlements at the rate fixed by the Government, the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench has directed the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West to dispose of the representation submitted by the petitioner on December 17 last year.
According to a release issued by Human Rights Law Network, the High Court also directed the DC to ensure that PDS items are properly distributed to the card holders as per guidelines.
Ningthemani made a representation to the DC on December 17 last year complaining that SK Oil sub-dealer of polling station no 11/15 of Sagolband A/C N Gojen distributed only two litres of SK oil to the card holders at the rate of Rs 15 per litre.
However, the DC failed to looked into the complaint and subsequently filed a writ petition before the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Branch.
According to the ruling passed by a division bench of Gauhati High Court comprising of Justice T Nandakumar and Justice BD Agarwal, the DC Imphal West should consider and dispose of the representation within a month, conveyed the HRLN release.
