Progress of Ukhrul district hospital studied

Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing and Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam who is also Chairman of MANIDCO today made a spot assessment of the hospital construction work at Hundung Naga Gate, Ukhrul.
The 50-bedded district hospital is being constructed with financial assistance from DoNER Ministry.
Phungzathang Tonsing said that he was happy to see progress of the construction work.
Nonetheless, he instructed relevant authorities to complete construction of ground floor and second floor including operation theatre block by February next year.
It is said that 75 per cent of the construction work has been completed.

MANIDCO started building the hospital in 2008-09 .
After looking around the construc-tion work, Phungzathang Tonsing told the accompanying media persons that the revised estimated cost of the hospital has reached Rs 24 crore.
Regarding the failure to complete the construction work within the stipulated time, the Health Minister stated the project was delayed for sometime as the State Government could not release it share of fund because of the State's sick financial condition.
Nonetheless, the State's matching share of fund for Ukhrul district hospital, Tamenglong district hospital and Chandel district hospital has been released.
Maximum efforts are also put in to complete installation of water supply and power supply facilities to Ukhrul district hospital.
The Health Minister also went inside the hospital and made an assessment of its working style as well as infrastructure shortfalls.
He then interacted with doctors and staff of the hospital and talked about their problems and desires.
The Minister advised the doctors and staff to work with dedication.
