Like in the past many years the Manipur peoples' liberation Front along with Kamatapur Liberation Organisation and Tripura people's Democratic Front will observe National Black Day on October 15, said an MPLF release issued by the convenor of its Permanent Body.
Stating that on this day it would be 50 years since Manipur was 'forcibly annexed' into the Indian Union, the MPLF recounted that for the last nine years october 15 is being observed as the National Black Day.
In connection with the observance the MPLF has announced imposition of general strike from 1 am of October 15 till 5.30 pm in addition to total black-out for 15 minutes from 7 pm.
Prohibiting venturing out on the streets or operation/plying of motor vehicles during the general strike period, the MPLF release also asked all concerned to cease all forms of entertainment and commercial activities.
however, activities connected with religious occasions and essential services would be exempted from the purview of the strike call, it added while urging the general public to burn enmass copies of the 'Manipur merger Agreement' in denunciation of forcibly extracting signature of then ruler (king) of Manipur Bodhchandra along with protest slogans and pledges for regaining sovereign status of Manipur.
