The highest institution of learning in the state, Manipur University remain paralyzed owing to the ongoing boycott by the Manipur University Students Union, MUSU protesting against the abduction of the MUSU general secretary and a councillor by armed persons on October 4 last.
All educational departments, as well as the library have not been functioning since Monday owing to the boycott.
In this regard, an emergency meeting of the MU community was held today at the office chambers of the MU vice chancellor, Prof.H Tombi.
The meeting in particular, considered the various threats to the peaceful atmosphere of the university from various sections and resolved to work to create an independent academic atmosphere in the university.
To this end, the meeting also decided to seek assurances from the various armed groups of not interfering in the functioning of the university.
The meeting was attended among others by the deans of various schools of study, the dean of students, office bearers of the Manipur University Teachers Association, Manipur University Staff Association, and MU Officers Association, as well as the registrar and finance officer.
