The pass percentage of the Class XII examination, the results for which were announced today late evening by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur saw a marked improvement over the last four years by recording a pass percentage of 65.70 against the 56.66 pc recorded last year and the dismal 36.69 pc in 2004 .
Out of the total number of 14953 candidates who appeared for the examination, a total of 9824 candidates made it through the Class XII examination this year.
In Arts stream Heigrujam Premkumar Singh of CC Hr Sec School secured the first position with a total of 402 with letter marks in Manipuri, Political Science and Education.
The second spot was bagged by Lily Lalnunmawi of Sielmat Christian Hr Sec School, of Churachandpur.
She secured 390 marks with letters in English and Home Science while the third position was bagged by Yaoreiphy Awungshi of Sacred Heart Hr Sec School, Ukhrul.
In Commerce the top honours went to Chingripem KAS of Don Bosco Hr Sec School (Arts and Commerce) while the second position was bagged by Vunghoih Nuam of Rayburn College, Churachandpur.
The third position was won by Ayesha Jain of Shree Digambar Jain Mahavir Hr Secondary School.
In Science stream Monali Moirangthem of Herbert School, Changangei topped the list securing 445 marks with letters in Manipuri, Physics, Chemistry and Maths while the second spot was bagged by Dayachand Sorokhaibam of Human Resource Development Academy, Ghari who secured 440 marks with letters in English, Alt, Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
The third position jointly went to Laishram Tarajeet Singh of Herbert School and Pukhrambam Rakeshchand Singh of Manipur Educational Mission Higher Sec School, Ghari.
Both secured 435 marks each with letters in six and three subjects respectively.
