Okram Surjakumar, MLA Khangabok Assembly Constituency continued his generous work of handing out edible items to the various localities under his Assembly Constituency in the face of lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
O Surjakumar conducted the distribution of the edible items to the lockdown affected households at Athokpam, Khangabok, Nepra, Lamding, Khangabok Part I, II and III with the assistance of volunteers and officials of the respective local clubs.
Surjakumar, on the sideline of his campaign, expressed concern that people often forget to maintain social distancing whenever curfew or lockdown is relaxed.
He appealed all to keep social distancing norms and other hygienic activities in the mind which is the best way to break the transmission chain of the new disease.
He appealed the State Government to ensure sufficient supply of PPEs to the doctors and other staff dealing with the patients besides suggesting to conduct a test for every suspected case.
He also urged every section of the society to co-operate the State Government in fighting the disease which has claimed more than 104000 lives globally.
Social Worker, Kh Menjor also took out similar distribution campaign helping ease the hardships faced by 900 households at Khangabok Meishnam Leikai, Uyan, Wangbal, Khangabok Sanilou, Khangabok Sorok Wangma and its surrounding localities.
Kiyam Siphai Wangmataba Development Association, Amureijam also distributed potatoes and other edible items to the residents of its locality on the eve of its 37th foundation day.
Wangkhem AC MLA, Keisham Meghachandra Singh also carried out similar charitable work of distributing edible items and soaps to around 300 households of Yairipok Bamon Leikai with the assistance of Bamon Leikai Youth Club.
Similar items were also distributed by social Worker Laishram Domen to the households at Yairipok Khoirom along with Youth Development Committee volunteers.
Meanwhile, Anganwadi Worker, Longjam (O) Thamacha Devi and helper, Longjam (O) Anita Devi also distributed edible items to kids reading at Kekru Mathak Leikai Ward No 9 Anganwadi Centre (A) .
Jiribam Journalists receive edible items
Vice-chairman of Manipur Food Industries Corporation Limited and chief advisor of Jiri News Network Committee (JNNC), K Sarat Kumar also came out to support 12 journalists of Jiribam working at different media houses and firms with rice, dal, salt, edible oil and other vegetables.
The items were supplied through Jiri News Network's Editor-in-Chief, O Dilip Kumar Meitei.
O Dilip Kumar also expressed gratitude to K Sarat Kumar for his commendable effort in reducing the challenges faced by the journalists during the lockdown owing to COVID-19 .
Many continue to serve needy in IE
Under "Feed the Needy" programme of BJP, L Inunganbi Devi, Corporator, Imphal Municipal Council Ward No 18 in Yaiskul AC doled out onion, dal, potatoes, ngari to those residing in rented accommodations within the jurisdiction of her ward.
It may be noted that "Feed the Needy" programme is designed to show solidarity to the people facing hardships during the lockdown period.
Yesterday, MLA N Indrajit also distributed edible items to the residents and those living in rented houses at Porompat Muslim Leikai.
Dedicated Employees Welfare Trust of UNACCO Group has contributed food supplies to the Food Bank opened at Imphal East by the District Administration, today.
The supplies were handed over to the DC of Imphal East, Dr Rangitabali Waikhom by the Chairperson of the trust, Ningombam Premabati Devi.
On the other hand, Singjamei United Clubs Organisation has formed a help-line centre to combat the Covid-19 crisis effectively.
The number of the centre is 9856260605 and 9774481694.Senapati: Reaching out to the orphanage operating in the District Headquarters, Somorjit Salam, DC, Senapati donated 10 bags of rice and 1 bag of pulses to 2 such centres from his end.
Speaking at the handing over, Somorjit Salam asked the children to keep social distance and refrain from touching ones' nose and mouth and frequently wash their hands.
The consignment was given to the Hope Centre and Foundation for Maraoni Orphans and Destitute Upliftment (FMODU) during the lockdown.
On the other hand, the DC also distributed 50 bottles of hand sanitizers each to Naga People's Organization, Senapati District Students Association, Senapati District Women Association, SP office and 6 SDOs of the district as a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID-19.Distribution of food supplies continues at different places of Senapati amid Nationwide lockdown.
Bharatia Infra Project Ltd (BIPL) stationed at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham had distributed foodstuff comprising potatoes, onions, mustard oil, pulses, salt and sugar to 170 households of the village.
Imphal West: Speaker, Yumnam Khemchand has also started distributing edible items at ward level since yesterday on account of the lockdown.
As a part of his continuous effort, Y Khemchand handed out onions, dal, salt, edible oil, Ngari to the households with the jurisdiction of Ward No 15 in Singjamei AC.
Edible items were also distributed at Heinoupok, Sagolband road.
On April 8, Yumlembam Indrajit Meitei, Councillor of Shikhong Sekmai Municipal Council Ward No 4 also generously served around 200 lockdown affected household with edible items.
Young girls of the locality also joined the noble work by assisting the Councillor in distributing the items from the fund they had collected to organise Yaoshang Thabal.
Kakching: Yengkhom Nilachandra of Kakching Khullen Leishangbam Pareng also went door to door to hand out edible items to households within Kakching Ward No 9.Nilachandra maintained that he distributed the items to reduce the suffering of the residents during the lockdown.
ZYO-Task Force for COVID-19 which is set up under Zou Youth Organisation-Sugnu Block, carried forward their philanthropy work by distributing 2 kg of potatoes and 2.5 kg of rice each as "Good Friday Gift" to 29 households under their jurisdiction.
The selection of the households was made based on family income besides giving priorities to widows and daily wage earners, said a statement of ZYO-Task Force for COVID-19, Sugnu.
Bishnupur: Former MLA N Mangi; Pradhan of Wangoo Terakhong Gram Panchayat, P Baleshore; Member of Wangoo Borayangbi Zilla Parishad, M Brojen along with several members of Kumbi Block Congress Committee have also distributed edible items to around 13000 households across Kumbi Assembly Constituency.
Some localities under Kumbi Municipal Council Ward No 9 also received soaps and detergents besides edible items.
