Imphal, August 07:
The All Manipur Unemployed Trained Hindi Graduates Association has cried foul over the recent selection of 146 Hindi graduate teachers for state government service, maintaining that majority of the selected persons are untrained, while the trained graduates had been sidelined.
Members of the association who spoke to IFP maintained that there was some hanky panky in the selection process, charging that a number of those selected did not even meet the eligibility criteria as they were only matric passed and untrained.
On the other hand, many trained master-degree holders were left by the way-side, they charged, adding that this has been established by a fact-finding committee specially constituted by the association in the wake of the declaration of the selection list.
They also lamented that the trained candidates who are on the verge of passing the age bar were not given priority in the selection.
They said that if the government had followed its own laid down principles as to giving priority to trained teachers, quality education may have been ensured, but the recent selection was just the opposite.
Expressing themselves strongly in favor of a free and fair fight, they said their respective capabilities should have been put to the test.
Pointing out that no selection test was held; they demanded to know how the selection list was given in order of merit.
