Covid-19 Response Fund provides free taxi service

Covid-19 Response Fund, Kakching, which was flagged off from July 23, has so far provided free taxi service to 51 Covid positive patients.
The Response Fund is an apex fund created by Voice of Kakching WhatsApp Group, Volunteers of Disaster Response Forum (VDRF) Kakching, Kakching Trekkers and Team Helmet and the free taxi service was launched on July 23 with the objective of providing transport service to Covid positive patients between home and CHICs in Kakching area.
The taxi service was provided to six people on the first day on July 23, eight on July 24,13 on July 25, seven on July 26, seven on July 27 and 10 on July 28.Sh Pelika, a staff nurse posted at DSA Kakching Covid Testing Centre, told The People's Chronicle that the two ambulances of the district health society could not cater to the needs of all the Covid positive patients.
As a result, several patients are forced to walk all the way to the CHICs or CCCs.
Now, the free taxi service sponsored by Covid-19 Response Fund is helping the positive patients to a great extent, she said.
She then thanked the sponsors of the free taxi service and Kshetrimayum Ramchandra, who came forward with his vehicle and provided the service in public interest.
