Special Judge (Lokyuktya), Manipur on Friday granted bail to the two staffers of Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL), who were arrested on corruption charges, on execution of PR Bond of Rs 1 lakh each.
During the case hearing on Friday, the court after examining the condition and status of accused duo - Aribam Rajendra and O Yaiskul, observed lack of evidence supporting their involvement in the case and as such, set them free on bail on execution of PR bond of Rs 1 lakh each with a surety bond of the like amount.
The two were produced before the Court on lapse of their police remand period, with a prayer for remanding both to judicial custody till April 22.After listening to the submissions of the Special PP and the counsels of the two accused, the court observed that the duo was found to have tampered the official documents and procedure.
However, according to their testimonies, they did so under the orders of the then executive engineer.
The investigation till date has failed to state how much money the two of them had received.
In addition, the medical report produced by the IO of the case only states that the medical authority concerned had stressed the need for medical treatment of the two.
Thus, the Court granted bail to both and ordered them to present themselves before the IO everyday from 10 am to 12 pm or the time agreed upon by the IO.
They are barred from travelling outside the state without prior permission of the court or make attempts to influence the witnesses of the case, the court ordered.
