Thoubal, June 01 2021:
NFSA beneficiaries of Polling Station No.35/7 and 35/9 under Khangabok AC have demanded proper distribution of rice and staged a sit-in-protest in this regard on Tuesday.
During the protest jointly organised by Rising Union Club, Popular Youth Club and Thabaton Social Welfare, Rising Union Club treasurer Moirangthem Bijesh said that distribution of NFSA rice with reference to voters' list in the constituency irrespective of card holders or not is against the norms and this must be stopped.
He said that several beneficiaries decided not to collect rice when agents concerned decided to distribute only 10kg for those enlisted in the voters' list and 5kg for non-voters.
The protesters later talked to the agents at the end of the protest and the latter assured of reviewing the earlier decision and distribute rice afresh as per wishes of beneficiaries and public.
