Lamyanba Irabot birth anniversary observed

The 125th Birth Anniversary of Lamyamba Hijam Irabot was observed at the Palem Panthou Masaigol of Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai in Thoubal District on Monday.
The observance was attended by Saina Institute of Medical Sciences director Dr S Kumar as chief guest and Palem Panthou Mashaigol president Yumnam Mahendrakumar as functional president while MMWO president SK Wajit Shah, AMSU ex-president Manjit Sarangthem and International Teacher awardee Tekcham Rameshwor were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr S Kumar lauded the role played by media persons to disseminate information to the masses especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
While stressing the need for media persons to be acquainted in basic first aid service, he said Saina Institute will organise a 3-month free certificate training course which may also be attended by the media persons through submission of formal application by the respective editor.
He then said that the Institute would also be providing free medical treatment and medicines to the elderly members of Palem Panthou Masaigol.
In her speech, Palem Panthou Masaigol secretary Kh Kamala recounted the contributions of Irawat towards empowering Manipuri women.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Lamyanba Irawat.
Tekcham Rameshwor and Manipuri (Meeteilon) script activist Soibam Mangijao spoke about the life and contributions of Irawat.
Later, cultural performances were staged along with distribution of prize's of various competitions.
