Positive cases rise by 178, death toll by one

Imphal, September 20 2021: Whereas the State's COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 1832 following the death of a woman from Imphal West who was not vaccinated, the cumulative number of positive cases has increased by 178 .

According to a bulletin issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 177 civilians and one CRPF personnel were confirmed positive out of 2,034 samples tested during the last 24 hours which puts the positivity rate at 8.8 per cent.

The positive cases were detected at RIMS (24), JNIMS (13) and other testing centres (141), and the civilians are residents of Imphal East (60), Imphal West (66), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (8), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (14), Churachandpur (10), Chandel (2), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (8), Pherzawl (1) and Kangpokpi (1) .

On Sunday, Imphal East logged the highest positivi-ty rate at 13.5 per went followed by Churachandpur 12.5 per cent, Ukhrul 11.9 per cent and Imphal West 10.5 per cent Meanwhile, 183 COVID-19 positive persons were discharged during the last 24 hours following recovery from home isolation (49), RIMS (6), JNIMS (9), CCCs (113) and CHICs (6) .

The cumulative number of positive cases is 1,18,673 (general population 1,14,433 and Central security personnel 4,240).It includes 2,183 active cases (general population 2,129 and Central security personnel 54) and 1,14,658 recovered cases (general population 1,10,477 and Central security personnel 4,181).The recovery rate stands at 96.62 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1103 D-type oxygen cylinders and 232 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State.

Taking into account 620 people vaccinated on September 19, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 16,26,163 (1st dose 12,14,879 and 2nd dose 4,12,284) .

As enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, COVID-19 beds available at different health care centres are RIMS (general beds 183; ICU/HDU beds 22), JNIMS (general beds 48; ICU/HDU beds 6), Iland Hospital (general beds 60; ICU/HDU beds 0), Little Flower School (general beds 27; ICU/HDU beds 3), CMC (general beds 27; ICU/HDU beds 6), Iboyaima Hospital (general beds 27; ICU/HDU beds 3), Jivan Hospital (general beds 20; ICU/HDU beds 5), Shija Hospital (general beds 37; ICU/HDU beds 38) and Raj Medicity (general beds 74; ICU/HDU beds 24) .

On the other hand, it is reported that police detained a total 1,56,395 people across the State for violating COVID-19 guidelines/restrictions till today and collected a fine of Rs 2,58,26,410 .
