Imphal, October 21 2015:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) in an appeal on Wednesday drew the attention of the Chief Minister and the Education Minister regarding the long stalemate in Birmangol College, Sawombung and sought their help in resolving it.
The Chief Minister and the Education Minister needs to intervene in the problem facing the college in view of the serious disturbance given to some 3000 students studying in the institute, AMSU said in a statement.
It said the union is upset that the Governing Body of the college has remained inactive and that the matter concerning appointment of its secretary has been delayed due to 'politicization' .
Mishandling of the embarrassing situation has created a serious problem to students of the institute in form fill-up, applying scholarships and taking marksheets of passed out students, AMSU said.
The union claimed that the attempt to appoint one 'blemished' individual as the secretary of the Governing Body by politicizing the process is very unfortunate.
It appealed to local clubs, meira paibi organizations and all concerned to render support to the union in its efforts to stop the situation in Birmangol College before it goes from bad to worse.
