30th Biannual Sports Meet of MKCSYO begins

The 30th Biannual Sports Meet of the Maram Khullen Circle Students' & Youth Organization (MKCSYO) was inaugurated today at Maram Bazar, Raisung Ground by Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Economic/Statistics Minister Ngajokpa Francis who also officially kicked open the tournament.
The annual sports meet will consist of all Maram Khullen Circle Villages, where 18 football teams and 24 volleyball teams will vie for the championship title in both the discipline.
Dignitaries including the special guest, the Maram Union president RK Peter, Senapati MDCA Rang and other special invitees like Senapati MDC LR John, DBC Maram Principal Dr Fr KO Sebastian, Maram Women Union president Kanga Regina, MKS president Luikang Luckson and a host of village chairmen, Maram Khullen Circle Board, politicians, Social workers joined the inaugural programme.
Cabinet Minister Francis Ngajokpa while speaking at the event recounted the manifold blessing of God on the tribe of Maram, inspite of being a tiny tribe in Senapati district.
Citing the various other important events that took place in the land of Maram the Minister talked about the last battle of WW II, first place to visit by missionaries, Don Bosco College, Maram being ranked next to Cotton College, Guwahati in the North East, route of NH-2 .
Francis elaborated at length about communal harmony and cohabitation with other tribes.
The Minister reminded the youth and the students to refrain from politics which is characterized by division among the villages, clans and to instead concentrate their energy and strength on development.
Speaking to the student community, he said "Mind your duties and fair well as students.
You (students) still have time to destroy or build the Maram tribe.
It is all in your hands", the Minister said urged the students to fully utilize all the opportunities that one of the best colleges in the NE, (Don Bosco College, Maram) has to offer.
Francis also spoke to the leaders of the area to co-operate with developmental projects in the area and cited the instances when various projects were mishandled because of the resistance of the people.
During the inauguration, special guest Maram Union president RK Peter also exhorted the gathering and urged the youth to maintain discipline in sports.
Solidarity messages were delivered by Senapati MDC A Rang and Maram Khullen Circle Board Chairman RP Joseph.
A band of singers and cultural troupes also entertained the inaugural function of the 30th Biannual Sports meet of the Maram Khullen Circle Students' and Youth Organisation.
The tournament will conclude on October 27 .
