AIFUCTO for inclusive vax policy, deferring NEP

All India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organization (AIFUCTO) has demanded inclusive National Vaccine Policy with vaccination for all teachers, employees and students of institutions of academic learning from KG to PG on priority basis.
A release by the Federation said that a virtual meeting was held in view of the unprecedented second wave of COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday presided over by president AIFUCTO Prof Kesab Bhattacharya and general secretary Prof Arun Kumar.
It said that the vaccine policy should be amended after due consultation with all stakeholders including the state governments.
The Federation also demanded that regular salary and medical benefits should be given to all parttime, Adhoc and contract teachers at par with permanent employees in the present unforeseen crisis.
AIFUCTO also proposed exemption of all types of collections from the students including examination fees and drew the attention of the central government as well as UGC to declare the closure of all academic institutions including the online examinations and classes till June 30 since AIFUCTO feels life is more precious than any other things.
The Federation at the same time condemned the undemocratic and arrogant attitude of the central government to push through the sectarian, retrograde and exclusionary Education Policy through the back door taking 'shame less' advantage of Corona situation.
AIFUCTO showed firm opposition of NEP implementation and demanded deferment of NEP atleast for one academic session and utilize the period to have discussion with all the stake holders including AIFUCTO.
It further condemned the proposed action of closing down more than 300 affiliated aided colleges in Andhra Pradesh and demanded immediate notification of 7th UGC revised pay scales inordinately delayed for the states of Manipur, Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, declaration of all educational workers as Covid workers and appealed to all state affiliates to contribute to state government for Covid management.
