YMA presses for census on Chakma tribe

The meeting of Central Young Mizo Association (YMA) on Saturday took decision for conduct of census on Chakma tribe at the earliest possible and to ask the Mizoram Chief Minister again to sack Dr.BD Chakma from his ministerial position due to his alleged involvement in pursuit of communal interest in spite of being State Minister.
The YMA meeting said that after they have asked the Chief Minister to terminate Dr.B.D.Chakma as minister due to his involvement when MDC by-election was boycotted in Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), now he again has deliberately participated at the Chakma Convention held on July 26 and 27, 2014 in Silchar when the decision was taken to carve out part of Mizoram.
The YMA said said that Central YMA could not digest the moves made by the minister, therefore decided to press the Chief Minister afresh and more aggressively to take action against the Minister.
Moreover, CEC unanimously decided to conduct census on Chakma community.
Not only within Chakma Autonomous District Council but all over Mizoram, Chakma Census may be conducted, for the expenses of which a collection may be made at Rs.5 per YMA member, and the same may be submitted to Central YMA office within September, 2014, the YMA decided.
In another matter, the YMA meeting decided to go for RTI query as they are not satisfied with the reply given by Mizoram Finance Department as to the reason for hike of electric bill by P&E Department and the amount of loan taken for expense on Power Tariff, its interest rate and the remaining debt besides number of employees.
