Free cataract operation

Imphal, October 04 2013 :
Loktak Power Station, NHPC Ltd conducted its 13th batch of free cataract operation yesterday at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Imphal where 8 cataract cases were operated successfully under the Project 'Netra Jyoti' of its corporate social responsibility and sustainable development (CSR & SD) activities.
According to a statement issued by Dr KK Singh, Senior Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the Project Hospital, NHPC, Loktak Power Station, free medicines, subsidized cost of operation with foldable IOL, transportation and fooding for the patients were provided by NHPC Ltd.
In addition to this, free spectacles shall also be distributed to the cataract operated patients.
So far, 102 cataract cases have been operated in thirteen batches during the current financial year.
Out of these 102 cases, 82 cases were from Bishnupur district, 12 cases from Churachandpur, 6 cases from Imphal East district and one case each from Imphal West district and Mizoram.
Elderly persons having cataract/difficulty in seeing distant objects may contact the doctors at Project Hospital, Loktak/Leimatak on working days or dispensary at Ithai Barrage on Tuesdays to avail the opportunity of free cataract operation.
