Advocate Arjun sent to jail after refusing to sign PR Bond

Imphal, August 04 2014:
Advocate Pukhrambam Arjun who was arrested while taking part in protest movement to press for implementation of Inner line Permit System in the State was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Imphal West here today.
The court remanded him to judicial custody till August 16 after he refused to walk out on bail by paying PR Bond of Rs 30, 000 .
He was arrested by police on charges of being a member of PREPAK (Pro) and involvement in extortion of money for the outfit.
During the hearing of the case, advocate Arjun submitted a discharge application to the court pleading his release as he is not related with the PREPAK (Pro) outfit as claimed by police but he was just taking part in the protest staged in connection with the demand for enforcement of ILP system.
However, the court rejected his plea and told him to pay a PR Bond of Rs 30, 000 to walk out on bail which he refused.
Later, he was sent to judicial custody till August 16.It may be mentioned here that advocate Pukhrambam Arjun is said to be a member of All Manipur Bar Association and also an executive member of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) which is spearheading the movement for implementation of ILP system in the State.
