Imphal, December 19 2012:
The Government has released salary for hill section alone excluding valley section of teaching and non-teaching staff under Education (S) Department ahead of Christmas and New Year Day celebrations.
Irked with the Government's decision, Council of Teachers' Association (CO-TA) has cautioned the Government that it will launch a series of agitation if salary of valley section is not released within December.
In a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, COTA Co-Convenor Ch Santakumar said, although the association welcomes release of salary for hill section amounting to Rs 2081.82 lakh ahead of Christmas and New Year's Day celebrations, exclusion of valley section has not been taken lightly and the association is set to launch agitation if the Government fails to show equal treatment to both the sections within this month.
With such an indifferent attitude of the Government towards the valley section, employees of the said section would not be able to join the celebration the major festival, he said.
As such, the Government must release the salary amount within at the earliest instead of inviting an agitation, he added.
