Sajiwa Jail illuminates with solar lighting

Considering shortage of power supply in the state and increasing security concern during the night, State Jail Authority has turned to solar power to illuminate Sajiwa Central Jail, Khabeisoi.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of installation of 20 solar streetlights inside the jail premises, I K Muivah, Superintendent of Jail, said that due to the shortage of power supply inside the prison, inmates as well as security personnel are facing problems.
Moreover, with increasing thickness of fog during night time, security concern of the jail is also increasing.
In a joint effort to solve the problem, Jail authority and MANIRADA have installed 2 (two) streetlights each at all sectors.
Further, under the Ministry of Renewable Energy, a solar plant of 100-kilowatt would also be installed at Sajiwa Central Jail premises very soon, Muivah disclosed.
He further informed once the problem of power supply is resolved, equipments like CCTV, door frame metal detector, hand held metal detectors, mobile jammer, etc would able to able to function fully.
