2-day Assembly Session begins

The 3rd Assembly Session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly, which is to be conducted for 2 days only, commenced today at the new Assembly Hall with Obituary References to late Prime Minister of India I K Gujral and other four members of the House who passed away during the current year.
The four House members were former Chief Minister W Nipamacha, former Minister Md Allaudin Khan, Md Abdul Wahid and L Kerani.
The House maintained two minutes silence as mark of respect to the departed souls.
IN his obituary reference, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh recalled that IK Gujral became the Prime Minster of India after being elected to the Rajya Sabha.
During his tenure as the Prime Minister, Gujral maintained good relations with neighbouring countries.
He was also a Prime Minster who played active roles in developing the country.
The passing away of such a leader is a great loss to the entire nation.
About W Nipamacha, Ibobi recalled that before being chosen as the Chief Minister of Manipur, Nipamacha had been Ministers in charge of various portfolios.
He was a faithful leader who always did good for his people.
It was during his time as the CM of Manipurthat the 5th National Games was hosted successfully in the State.
He also established a separate Directorate of MOBC and the State employees were given the benefit of 5th Pay Commission.
The demise of such a great leader was indeed a great loss for the State.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister pointed out that late Minister Md Allaudin Khan had been elected on Congress ticket and worked for the upliftment and development of the Muslim community in particular and for the State in general.
Late MLA L Kerani and Abdul Wahid were also true leaders of the state.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwar observed that late Prime Minister IK Gujral had done exceptional services for the welfare of the people and development of the country.
He also tried to maintain good relation with various countries of the world.
Opposition MLA, Dr I Ibohalbi stated that the honest works of late W Nipamacha are still being remembered by the present generation.
Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir; IFCD Minister I Hemochandra; MLAs Ng Bijoy, TN Haokip, M Prithviraj, Md Amin Shah, K Thamarjit and O Lukhoi were among other who spoke and gave their obituary references to the five departed leaders.
