Additional flight to Mizoram on Dec 22

Aizawl, December 19 2012:
Additional flight service will be provided on coming Saturday, December 22, between Kolkata and Aizawl, following the request made by Rajya Sabha MP from Mizoram, Lalhmingliana for the traveling convenience of the large number of Mizo residents in cities who are to come home for Christmas.
Attending the Consultative Committee for Ministry of Civil Aviation on December 17, Rajya Sabha MP Lalhmingliana apprised the Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh regarding the problems faced by large number of Mizo students in cities due to shortage of tickets for Kolkata-Aizawl flight, and made a request that an additional flight may be provided at least one day before Christmas.
Complying with the request of Lalhmingliana, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh assured that on December 22 an additional flight sercice will be provided from Kolkata to Mizoram.
On December 17, Consultative Committee for Ministry of Civil Aviation meeting was convened under the leadership of Union Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh, where Committee member, Lalhmingliana put up several necessities for North East states which include the improvement in flight service to boost eco-tourism in North East; the need to install Instrumental Landing System (ILS) and weather observatory) which will help lessening flight cancelling cases in the NE region.
The Union Civil Aviation minister in his reply, said that priority will be given for upgrading the ILS in Lengpui Airport in Aizawl, and also that top priority shall be given with regard to improvisation of Lengpui Airport.
In the mean time, Mizoram helicopter service will not be available from December 23-27, 2012 owing to Christmas celebration in the state.
