House pays tribute to Gujral, Nipamacha, Allaudin, others

Led by leader of the House Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, members of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today paid rich tribute to former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, former Manipur Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh, former Minister Md allaudin Khan and former MLAs Md Abdul Wahid and Laishram Kerani on the first day of the State Assembly's winter session.
the third sitting of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly concluded with obituary references to these leaders, who departed in recent months.
In his address, Chief Minister O Ibobi remembered IK Gujral as a dedicated Indian leader who took active role in India's independence movement.
After making his parliamentary debut as a Rajya Sabha member IK Gujral went on to become the country's 12th Prime Minister from 1997 to 1998, said the CM while informing that prior to leading the country Gujral held important posts as a Union Minister.
Besides expressing deep sorrow on the demise of the former PM, he also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved family of former Chief Minister W Nipamacha whose departure, said Ibobi, would be an irreparable loss in the political spectrum of Manipur.
Holding former Minister md Allaudin Khan and MLAs Abdul Wahid and L Kerani in high esteem and highlighting their contribution towards socio-economic development of the State in general and the economically deprived section of the society in particular, Ibobi conveyed solidarity to the suffering of the bereaved family members.
Meanwhile, State unit Trinamool Congress legislature wing leader Dr i Ibohalbi Singh in his obituary reference to IK Gujral recounted the former prime Minister's uncompromising stand on the territorial integrity of Manipur.
On W Nipamacha, Dr Ibohalbi described the former Chief Minister as a straightforward individual with outstanding characteristics to share his experience and help out any body who so desires.
Apart from Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwor, Dr Ng Bijoy, Amin Shah, Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, and PHE Minister I Hemochandra, TN Haokip, M Prithiviraj, Karam Thamarjit and O Lukhoi also paid rich tributes to the five departed souls.
All those present at the assembly also joined in the observance of a minute's silence for peaceful rest of the departed souls in the heavenly abode.
