Tension high in Tamenglong, one killed

Tamenglong, December 19 2012:
Tension ran high in Tamenglong district head-quarters today following the killing of a man in the wee hours of Wednesday by gunmen.
Reports said one Boudiyang Panmei s/o Aran Panmei of Ajiuram village was shot dead just after the Orange Festival evening programme at around 1 am at the festival venue at Public Ground.
The sources added that the organisers were leaving the venue of the festival, after the crowd had left, when they heard a gunshot.
When the people rushed in, Boudiyang was found killed.
No group has claimed responsibility for the act.
Meanwhile, various civil organisations of the district under a Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Killing of Boudiyang convened a public meeting today and passed some resolutions which include that the authority concerned should book the culprits at the earliest.
The JAC also demanded that the group involved in the incident be found out at the earliest by the concerned authority and award appropriate punishment.
Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia has also been demanded by the JAC for the deceased family.
Meanwhile, the NSCN-IM has expressed its heartfelt condolence at the untimely demise of Boudiyang.
The outfit also strongly condemned the incident.
