The controversial death of one married woman, Ningombam Lata of Samram Makha Leikai after consuming poison takes a new turn with her husband now alleging Lata of having extra-marital affair with another man.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, the deceased woman's husband Ningombam Surjit disclosed that his wife committed suicide by consuming poison as a result of an extra-marital affair she had with another man known over mobile phone, and not because of torture meted out to her by his family members as claimed by the JAC formed in connection with Lata's death.
Surjit said that he is a VDF personnel and he had tied knots with the deceased Lata as per the social traditions.
They have been blessed with a seven-year-old daughter.
There was no quarrel between them in more than eight years of their married life.
However, things got suddenly changed after his wife acquired a mobile phone without his knowledge, he contended.
His wife was using a SIM card which was earlier given to her by him during the time of State General Election last year.
As per call records obtained from telecom companies, Lata (on mobile number 985647759) used to have frequent telephonic conversations with a man on mobile number 8575891646.Lata had called up the man 117 times and also that man had called up Lata 112 times in between May 1 and May 20 this year, Surjit revealed.
He condemned the JAC for demolishing his house and even thrashing his aged mother on false charges, and appealed to all social organizations to render help and support in bringing out the truth behind Lata's death.
