Ukhrul, August 02 2012:
Irked by Government apathy towards the road development in Ukhrul town, the youth department of Union Baptist Church (UBC) has been organizing four days Ukhrul Town Beautification Campaign beginning from August 1 to promote clean and healthy living and also to create awareness and set an example to the community.
UBC appealed the concerned authorities and all the organizations to take necessary measures so that naturally both solid & liquid wastes may be managed efficiently and safeguard public health and environment.
Chairman CYS UBC, Tamyo AC stated that non-availability of waste dumping site in Ukhrul Town has severely threatened the public health and their cleanliness.
He further stressed that in today's era it is equally important to beautify the town, so keeping this in mind the UBC planted trees and flowers, painted walls for beautifying the town.
At the end of the clean ups the union will initiate to promote behavioural change towards adoption of environment-friendly practices among the volunteers, he added.
According to UBC the much anticipated areas for Clean ups starts from Mini secretariat to TNL ground.
