Brilliant students of Ponlien Govt H/S felicitated

The first ever felicitation function of Ponlien Government High School since its inception on the success of its students in HSLC Examination, 2015 was held on Monday at the school premises under Saitu Gamphazol, Sadar Hills.
The felicitation function was graced by Seikholet Singsit, Retd.DI/DDO, Saitu as Chief Guest and M.Iboton Singh, Headmaster of the School as President while T.Leikendra, National Awardees and Kouncha Sitlhou, DI/DDO, Saitu attended the function as Guests of Honour.
Speaking at function Seikholet Singsit said that Ponlien L.P.School was established through the benign effort and initiative of Late Helthang Singsit and the village though located in the remote hill area in Tamenglong district produced more than five gazetted officers, engineer, naval officer and more than 30 Government employees in education and army.
He said the village and the Govt.Jr.
High School of Haochong Block had been shifted from Tamenglong district to Saitu Gamphazol Block under Sadar Hills in Senapati district due to "ethnic problems" in the hill area in 1993.The same school was upgraded to full-fledged Govt.High School through the initiative of IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip and Seikholet Singsit, the then DI/DDO Saitu Gamphazol Block.
"Today, the school could produce 12 brilliant students who passed the HSLC Examination 2015 out of 16 students who appeared the examination", the Chief Guest said.
Seikholet Singsit said that Class X and XII are the foundation for student's career in their further education and urged the village authority of Ponlien to arrange hostel for the students so that the neighbouring student can also avail education provided in the school.
Seikholet Singsit, who is also the founder Secretary of H.M.Higher Secondary School, Keithelmanbi under Champhai Sub-Division, donated HM Award to be given to class X student who passed in first division and got highest mark in the coming HSLC Examination, 2016 from next year onwards.
All the successful students were awarded with a memento and Oxford Dictionary each.
A sumptuous feast marked the occasion.
