Transport Department yet to response to CAG Audit report

With the State Transport Department still unable to submit its response to the audit report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), 2011, the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat has once again instructed the Department to do the needful by September 10, 2012 .
According to an official source from Assembly Secretariat, even though the Transport Department had been directed to submit a Para Wise Explanatory Notice/Replies to the 2011-CAG Audit Report by August 22, it has not been able to do so.
As a result, the Assembly Secretariat has once again sent a reminder to the Principal Secretary and Director of Transport Department for submitting its response by September 10 definitely.
The reminder also made it clear to the Transport Department to provide 18 copies of the answers to the CAG Audit Report to the Assembly Secretariat and another three copies of the same to the office of Accountant General, Manipur, the source added.
The source further informed that a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Manipur Legislative Assembly was held last month wherein examination of the CAG reports till March 31, 2011; Appropriation Accounts and Finance Accounts were conducted.
MLA L Ibomcha is the Chairman of PAC while MLA W Brajabidhu, Th Shyamkumar, Y Surchandra, Kh Devendra, Vungzagin Valte and K Thamarjit are its members.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Committee on Public Undertakings headed by MLA RK Anand as Chairman, has been convened on September 11 at 11 am in the Committee room of Old Assembly Secretariat.
The meeting would discuss examination of the CAG Audit report.
MLAs N Biren, E Chand, Kh Joykishan, P Brojen, Samuel Risom and MK Preshow Shimray are members of the Committee.
In the proposed meeting, the Accountant General of Manipur is also expected to take part, the source disclosed.
