Trust, AR pay tribute to Haipou Jadonang

The 92nd Death Anniversary of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang was observed as Martyr's Day in all the Zeliangrong inhabited areas of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, on Tuesday.
At his birth place, Puiluan (Kambiron) village in Noney district, Haipou Jadonang Memorial Trust organised the death anniversary as Martyr's Day at Jadonang Memorial Community Hall.
Along with paying rich floral tributes, the life history of the freedom fighter was narrated by various speakers on the occasion also marked by presentation of cultural programmes.
The Martyr's Day was also observed at Longmai Bazar market shed, Noney under the joint aegis of Longmai Lungrian, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) in collaboration with various civil society organisations.
Lighting of candle at every door steps as a mark of respect and honour to the great leader was also done in every household of Zeliangrong in the evening.
Meanwhile, acknowledging the contribution of Haipou Jadonang in the nation's freedom movement and his efforts towards promoting social reforms, Assam Rifles along with Zeliangrong tribe and civil administration jointly organised death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang at Khoupum Valley, Sankhomei village, Senapati and Tamenglong districts.
Huge number of Zeliangrong tribe gathered to pay homage and celebrate the life and contributions of the visionary leader.
The function at Sankhomei and Senapati included paying of tribute to the freedom fighter followed by a cultural event while that in Tamenglong included a painting competition for local students on the theme of Haipou Jadonang.
