Farmers made aware on NICRA project

Maintaining that the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) is a project launched in tune with climate change, NICRA project nodal officer Dr Ningthoujam Ajitkumar said that the project will help in lessening the impact of climate change on agricultural activities.
Dr Ajitkumar was speaking at the inaugural function of the 2-day multi-disciplinary training cum awareness programme on "Climate Adoptive Agricultural Practice for Rainfed Ecosystem" jointly organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre for Ukhrul and Chandel districts at ICAR-RC Manipur Centre conference hall, on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by MIDH mission director Md Jakir Hussain; ICAR, Manipur Centre regional head Dr Ramgopal Laha; ICAR Manipur Centre principal scientist Dr I Meghachandra Singh; NABARD Ukhrul DDM Premjoy Singh; and ICAR KVK Chandel head Dr A Amita Devi as presidium members.
According to Dr Ajitkumar, NICRA project has been primarily launched to help combat impact of global warming in agricultural activities.
Under this project the farmers are provided with climate resilient crops and training programmes conducted to make the farmers aware on the same, he said.
Farmers from Ukhrul and Chandel districts are taking part in the training cum awareness programme.
