JAC demands stringent punishment to rape accused

In connection with an alleged rape of a woman and attempted murder case, the JAC against the incident has demanded stringent punishment to the culprit involved.
Speaking to media persons, the JAC said that the woman from Imphal East district was "called out" of her house on November 19 at around'7 pm on the pretext of eloping by the accused identified as Chandam Rabichandra alias Ibomcha.
He allegedly raped and beat her on gunpoint.
As the accused thought the woman had died, he allegedly dumped the victim at a power station, said the JAC.
Next morning, people found the victim and informed family members.
She was rushed to JNIMS where she received treatment.
Her right arm was broken and she had strangulation marks on her neck, said the JAC.
The accused surrendered to the police on November 20.He should be given stringent punishment, added the JAC.
