Imphal, August 19 2016 :
Many citizens have raised serious concerns over the parking of heavy vehicles along Tiddim Road between Keishampat and Kwakeithel.
Commenting on the campaign launched by The Sangai Express on the traffic management system of Imphal, one Oinam Chandramani of Kwakeithel said that many heavy vehicles including 12-wheelers are parked on either side of the said road stretch.
Some people have been using expanded portion of the road as their own courtyards.
There were many instances when road accidents were aborted in the nick of time.
Many people/vehicles are made prone to accidents on account of heavy vehicles parked along the road up to the junction of many lanes and by-lanes.
If anyone is dealing in cement and/or steel, they should have proper places where they can load and unload their merchandises.
But it appears that many people lack civic sense, Chandramani said.

Four-wheelers using their horns in wanton manner in their efforts to overtake other vehicles on congested roads near Kangla Western Gate, Keishampat, Central Library, General Post Office etc is really irritating to fellow commuters, particularly those riding two-wheelers.
On the other hand, many youngsters riding fast motorcycles have been overtaking vehicles from all sides (both left and right).
School vans too sometime resort to such rash driving which seriously disturbs smooth traffic flow apart from increasing the chances of road accidents.
Central paramilitary forces using sirens to overtake vehicles is another nuisance which also create fear psychosis among the civil populace.
As such, there is a need to teach traffic rules to Central paramilitary forces, Chandramani said.
Brojendro Ningomba of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai said that road accidents occur frequently near the power sub-station of Thoubal Khunou.
The area serves as entry point to Thoubal College as well as Paradise School.
But heavy vehicles which bring construction materials for the power sub-station have been impeding traffic at the busy junction which also increases chances of road accidents.
Yet, when VIPs are scheduled to go past the area, two/three TCP personnel are deployed and they somehow manage the traffic flow without much problem.
TCP personnel should be stationed in the area until the power sub-station construction work is completed, Brojendro added.
