Tamenglong, August 19 2016 :
Manipur has been a fiefdom, a land which is handle by only one individual that is Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in his own interest, Samuel Jendai, former Minister and an intending candidate for the forth coming general election at Tamenglong A/C told the media persons in a press conference held today.
Since Ibobi took over charges of the State, PHED, road connectivity and other important sections of life in Tamenglong district has been totally neglected, Samuel stated.
The lone highway connecting Tamenglong district HQs is in such a pathetic condition that even drivers hesitate to travel the said road.
The Government of India, on January 11, 2011, had sanctioned a sum of Rs 5 crore for each hill districts of Manipur to construct GNM Nursing Institutes but no such institute has been constructed till date nor any foundation stones been laid, the former Minister said.
The Union Ministry of Tourism has their eyes to develop certain places like the Barak water falls, Buning (Npiulong), Tharon Cave and Zeilad lake in Tamenglong as tourist site, Samuel said.
He alleged that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has pocketed the 9 crores sanctioned by the Central Government for development of tourism in Tamenglong and other hill areas in Manipur.
He said local MLA Janghemlung Panmei must also have taken his share from the money for no site has been developed for tourism till date.
Moreover, he added, the Central Government has sanctioned a huge amount for the construction of PHSC and health sub-centres at Awangkhul, Chaton and Nurathel village but not even a single centre can be seen in the said villages.
"It is clear that development, under the Okram Ibobi led Government, has been totally ignored", Samuel stated.
