It may be noted that the officer was on deputation with the Intelligence Bureau and had returned some months back.
He was given the charge of Additional DGP (Law and Order) by an order of Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu on July 5 .

Sources said medical surgery to remove blood clot from his head was conducted at around 2.30 pm and later shifted again to the ICU of the hospital.
"Some portion of his skull and brain" have been damaged due to the bullet injury, added the sources.
Coming out of the hospital, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu stated that the condition of the officer is "stable and conscious".
The officer responded using "hand gestures", he said.
"A small surgery will be done and after he becomes stable, he may be shifted to Delhi for further treatment.
All focus is on saving his life now," the Chief Secretary said.
"The incident is unfortunate," he added.
DGP LM Khaute also maintained that the officer's health condition is "stable" .
The doctors are trying their best, he said, expressing confidence and thanking the doctors and staff of the hospital for their attention and treatment to the officer.
"Arvind Kumar is a fine officer.
I met him a couple of days back.
I did not notice any kind of depression or problem in his conduct and behaviour", said the DGP.
Meanwhile, Imphal Police has registered a case in connection with the incident and carried out an inquest of the room where the officer allegedly shot himself.
An empty case of a .38 revolver and other items have been recovered, said sources.
