Imphal, February 08, 2012:
Trinamool Congress candidate in Wabagai AC, Dr Usham Deben has filed a writ petition in the Gauhati High Court complaining that INC workers in collusion with their party candidate cast votes by way of malpractices through proxy voting, forced voting, impersonation, casting of vote against the names of deceased persons, out-station voters in polling station number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15 and 16 on the day of polling on January 28. February 13 has been fixed as the date of admission for hearing of the case for which the Secretary of the Election Commission of India is the respondent, said an informed source.
It may be mentioned that ECI Secretary in his instruction issued on January 13 last said that respective Returning Officers must check whether the photographs of the voters printed on photo electoral roll are matched with the photographs taken on the poll day within one week of polling/repolling.
Repolling must be ordered in case any impersonation or mismatched cases are found, the instruction said.
